Nurse Technicians assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks; checks in patients, assists in obtaining patient histories, takes vital signs, prepares charts, and assists with medical examinations.
Examples of duties may include but not limit to:
- Observing patients’ behavior to identify signs of illness or distress
- Performing physical assessments of patients, including taking temperature and blood pressure readings, measuring weights and heights, and recording findings in medical records
- Supporting physicians by preparing exam rooms, sterilizing equipment, and stocking supplies
- Providing care to patients by monitoring their conditions, administering medications, and providing treatments as directed by a physician
- Collecting samples for lab testing and other diagnostic procedures
- Communicating with patients’ families, nursing staff, and other health care professionals on behalf of the patient
